Artists from six countries form the line up of the fourth edition of the International Festival Riu d'art

The objective, that aims to transform the village into an outdoor art gallery, will take place from 10 th to 22 nd June in Riba-roja d'Ebre

Artists are coming from Chile, Russia, Italy, Lithuania and locally too, Riba-roja and Barcelona. A total of eight international artists will take part this year's Riu d'art residency organised by, for the fourth consecutive year, the Municipality of Riba-roja d'Ebre and the cultural association of Riba Rocks. The event will take place from the 10 th to 22 nd June in Riba-roja d'Ebre, and takes the form of an artistic residency in the village for two weeks where artists will develop their proposals.The selected artists from around the world have presented a project and will transform their proposals into works of art in chosen locations around the village and local area..

The jury of the Project, formed by Youth Councillor, Francesc Esteve; President of Riba Rocks, Chris Thornton; artist Enrique Larroy; international artist Sarah Misselbrook; director of Riba-roja d'Ebre Art School L'Aula d'Art, Isabel Torres; Maria Franquet; Maricel Muñoz, invited neighbour; chose the eight proposals that eventually will participate in Riu d'art from a total of 60 artists who applied from 30 different countries around the world.

This year's successful artists for Riu d'art 2019 comprise two street artists: el rus Vladimir Abikh the the Italian Common Place; Chilean Romina Christi, who will create an interactive artwork; Lithuanian Simona Rukuižaitė, who will create interventions on facades of buildings. Rounding out the line the shore-Adria Cid Rojano, a specialist in ceramics, the the the·illustrator Roser Gay, This year presents a mural combining a mixture of styles with the artist Gloria Degree, as Elvira will mural Elara Galicia. The organization provides the ideal places where to make its interventions: walls, facades, gardens, ... places and covers accommodation and meals during the stay.

Enrique Larroy supports the project

This year, furthermore, the festival has counted on the support of a guest artist, Enrique Larroy, from Zaragoza. A "unique project was born with the future prospect of converting the streets of Riba-roja into a large scale outdoor gallery", explains Councilor for Youth, Francesc Esteve. After three editions, there is a Riu d'art 'route' with 19 points to view. which invite you to explore all the areas where these artistic interventions have been made in previous years, it also serves to enhance the Old Town and the local heritage, such as the old washrooms, the castle, the river front and the old municipal slaughterhouse. Esteve stressed that "Riba-roja is a town with high cultural and artistic potential, and that the festival was also born as an opportunity to create and promote networking between local and international artists".
